~Bigger is better - Print Sizes~ Mirka Photography Print Products

Mirka Photography LLC offers a variety of different print sizes as well as press printed products and gallery wrap canvases.
I just wanted to share with you, why I think bigger is better and for comparing I'm attaching an image with variety of print sizes.
This is a wall in my house, it's not large by any means.
I ordered a gallery wrap of Logan in the size below and thought it was going to be huge, when it arrived I thought it was not large enough, for the space that it was supposed to fill.
If you order 16x20 that is a decent size, but if you're planing on hanging that on your wall and think it's large enough, it is most likely not lol, unless you accompany it with other prints or planning to hang it in a very small spot.
Dont let me even start on 8x10's, that size is a desk print if you ask me:)
Anyway, check it out for your self.
Make your family or children's portraits make impression!
I bet you everyone will rave about your portraits when they see them:)

It was my pleasure to capture Jon and Erica's wedding day yesterday!

I was so excited and yet very nervous as I left the house. I always get funny feeling in my stomach before photographing a wedding, I just want to do well and capture the couples special day as best as possible and I guess that is why I always get butterflies. I mean, it is one of their most important days in their life's.

It makes it so much better and relaxed, when you get to photograph a couple, that you worked with before. We did an engagement session together about a year ago and I just knew that they are super special and awesome people then and was so excited when they asked me to be part of their wedding.

Erica is beautiful and Jon just adores her, you can see that in his eyes *and ummm I do have a picture of you crying as you could not get over how stunning she looked yesterday, but I'm not gonna post it for your sake lol;) Just kidding)

Anyway, we had such hard time getting there yesterday and I was never more worried then when we got on I-76 in Philly and the traffic just stopped in it's tracks... I mean, I dont like taking I-76, but yesterday I was ready to take my hammer and go knock it down! If you close two lanes in the city for construction, there better be construction going on, but NOOOOOO there was no action, I feel like they just close it down to make it more miserable for people to travel on it...

Ok enough of venting and lets get back to the lovely bride and her groom.

Here is a sneak a peak for you guys,I'm so happy that we all survived yesterday's 93F and the church that had no air conditioning lol.

Have the best time in Tobago and I can't wait for our Trash the Dress session when you come back, I just love Eastern State Penitentiary!!!

I admit, this little guy keeps coming to our yard for 3 years now, I love him and have been stalking him:) well today he ran up the tree as we came out to the yard, I asked my husband to hover around it, so he could not escape, as I ran inside threw the 70-200 back on my camera and rushed outside to get some shots of this little guy:)
isn't he just darling?!

Before I leave for a wedding to photograph today, I came across this shot that my mom took of me and my dad while we were visiting the Sea World in Orlando FL, we are trying to figure out, which way to get to the Shamu Stadium... I just love it and thinks it's really funny, because we both obviously pretend that we know which way to go, but we really dont lol...

I was thinking to myself that it would be sort of neat to show you all, why it is so important to do photo sessions at certain times during the day.

So I must thank my little assistant Logan, who surprisingly sort of stood still for me in the morning and afternoon, while I was doing this experiment so I could share.

Some people get super excited for bright sunny day, I fear it lol.

I will 1000x rather get up at 6am and do a session first thing in the morning, then shoot at noon. The difference in light is AMAZING!

The light looses it's magic pretty early on summer days, after 9am it just goes flat and you loose all the detail, not to mention all the harsh shadows that now start showing on the skin.

Of course, you can take pictures all day, in a studio or controlled environment (such as urban alley or warehouse...) or if you know how to use off camera flash and all that jazz or if you're not chasing after toddlers (as most of my sessions are) and can put your model where you need it/ which would be somewhere in a solid shade ha!...

Nothing compares to first morning light and couple hours before sunset light *I have to get pictures of that for you later lol*

So here it is, first thing AM on left and around 3PM on right.

Can you see the difference? What would you rather your portraits look like?

This is why I schedule my sessions the way I do, because I want magic in your images:)

And magic happens with twinkling of light in the tree leafs, and they only twinkle couple times a day:)

I had to rent this lens, which is quite amazing for far away shots...

I'm photographing a wedding this Saturday and the church does not allow me to be anywhere, but in the back of the church for most of the ceremony....

so I had to get something to be able to get some closer shots...and man is this baby heavy!

I hope I can hold it lol...

Anyways, went around the yard to test it this evening and found this little cute baby Robin:)

So just quick sharing him:) And this baby is one of the reasons, why our cat is not allowed out in the spring/summer time!

Right Vaclav? or as Logan would call him "Fluffluf", that kid just comes up with the best nicknames lol..

It would not be a father's day if we did not have Logan:) He is insane and crazy and so full of life, and we would not trade him for anything in the whole wide world! He is ours and we'll keep him. With that said... There would not be "Logan" if there was not daddy! We love him sooooo and will keep him without a doubt! He is the best daddy in the world! Well, right along with my dad:)

Happy Father's Day to my Jared and my daddy back in Prague! I miss you so much!

To celebrate this special day, we just hang around and enjoyed the HOT weather inside of our air conditioned house, for the most part. But the best part was, when we made smores! This is first time for Logan having them and he loved it:) Well who would not:)

Happy Father's Day honey, the day is almost over, so I'd like the TV remote back now, I bet you had fun, while that one lasted lol...

and my new favorite of Logan:) This will be another canvas hanging in our house!

Yesterday we got to spend our father's day with my husband's dad and the rest of the family.

It was quite the weather to just chill in the pool and have some drinks. So much fun!

Logan loves the pool and is very careful around it, which is good, because he is aware of the deep water.

I was supposed to take pictures for my brother and sister in law last week, but Zusette was getting some contractions, so we did not get to...

So we used the opportunity and did some on Saturday instead.

I do not have studio, but am happy to set up anywhere, where is a good natural light:) So this time, it was the garage ha!

Here is just one from behind the scenes, as I was testing the light.

Who needs a studio right? lol

Can someone tell me, how some ladies do it that they look soooooo gorgeous when almost 9 months pregnant? Im sure I looked nothing like this:)

And my favorite from our session, the light in my father in law's house in the evening is just AMAZING!!!!

Of course, had to take couple of the pretty little ladies and my logan, who I gave up on posing a long time ago, so here is couple snap shots of him too:)

AND last but not least! HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all our wonderful husbands, who gave us babies to love:)

Being little creative here, had to get Adam on the action along with the babies that are soon to join our family!

Last night I started to have a funny feeling, I knew for sure something will happen if I use this location.

I love this place, it is abandoned with so many little corners to use for backdrops...

For sure as we arrived, so did a guy in a red explorer.

So off I go, to look pretty and talk to him nice lol.

He was from the township and thankfully had no problem with us being there, so we spend good hour and half getting the pictures we needed.

Here is a sneak a peak of this beautiful family.

Hat's down to mom and dad, for doing a session with a pair of two year old twin brothers and a four year beautiful girl! But why not really, they were wonderful:)

The same day my parents left, my brother arrived with his family.

They came to visit all the way from Maine with their two beautiful children. This was the first time I actually got to meet Miss Grace in person, since she was born.

Man is she sooooo cute, she looks a lot like me, when I was a baby.

We got to spend little over a day together before they headed back up North, but for sure we had to get a session in:)

Here is at least few that I got to sneak in before I start catching up on all my client work:)

It was great to have them here and made it somewhat easier not to think and cry over my parents being gone back home.

David made my day yesterday, when he called me his favourite aunt Mirka ;) Love you!!!

I am in love with this chair, soooo happy that I get to use it and that it did not make it to dumpster, the light in our sunroom is ideal for studio sessions too:)

and just few of the cousins hanging out:) I must say that they got along decently and there was no blood sheaded lol..

I've had my parents visiting from europe for most of May and into June.

It was so wonderful to have them here for that long, but as usual the time flew by and the day came, that I had to drive them back to JFK and say goodbye.

I'm still crying:(

When I came home from the airport and Logan kept asking me where babi and deda were, I just could not hold it and broke down in tears.

He still asks about them...

It just hurts to know that there is several thousand miles of ocean between us and we cant see each other as often as we'd like.

I'd like to thank my dad for all the work he did on our house!

*putting new tile floor in our kitchen

*installing new backsplash in our kitchen

*also changing the wood that was bad to the point that strong wind was able to take our gutter down and he put that all back together and saved us hundreads of $$$

*intalling french door in Logan's room

*wallpapering our master bedroom closet

*fixing the ugly thing that was on the ceiling in the guest room

*fixing the hole that was covered by wood by fitting sheet rock and just blending that in beautifully

*doing the same in the other bedroom upstaris (whoever we bought the house from, ugh)

*intstalling door in our master bedroom that we bought in a yard sale to match the rest of the house (they dont make those anymore and it was pain in the butt to fit them, but he did!)

and the list goes on and on and on!

He is the best!!!!

I will never be able to sell our house, because of everything he did, and because by him doing so, I now have little piece of him here with me...

With that said and so I would not look like a cry baby in front of my brother and his lovely wife that are visiting us till tomorrow...

I love you mom and dad and I miss you soooo much!!! It was so wonderful to have you here!

this is from the Shamu "Believe" show at the Florida Sea World, where I also got a ticket for not wearing seat belt...

I must admit, I had so many tears in my eyes, those fantastic animals made me so humble! What a show! Shamu is a star!

we also took a trip to the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philly, it's the most awesome place to visit!

Happy Memorial Day everybody!

I got up super early today, to drive all the way to Upper Montclair NJ for a session with this lovely little girl.

She might as well be a porcelain doll just soooooo adorable and cute!

Such happy little lady!

I am exhausted, I have so much to catch up on, but my parents are still here (happy that they are)!

On top of it all, my brother is coming down from Maine on Wednesday (that is when my parents leave) and will be staying with his wife and my nephew and niece till Saturday!

I'm just so drained and can't wait to sleep for few days after this is all over, but I will be so sad to see them all go:(

Yesterday I ventured out with Emily, my new senior student rep for the class of 2011.
We did some in nature shots (and believe it or not, got kicked out from a little field that was at the edge of abandoned orchard right off of a parking lot next to a liqueur store...

a cop showed up and told us to leave.... whatever)...
and then we headed down to Philly, where we could not find parking if you killed us. So we went on the outside of the city, instead of the center and man, did we find the best spots...

Here is one of them, an old book store, that I was so grateful the owners let us in to photograph and even offered to use the upstairs floor.
Sorry I am MIA, but my parents are still here and we are always out and around, except few minutes for breakfast and coffee in the morning!

Today my husbands cousin Amy came over for a session.

We originally planned on an outdoor session, but sometimes the weather just does not co-operate with us...

So we set up in my sun room, since Amy's here for only couple more days before she heads back to FL and we just needed to do those pictures:).

Little Madison could be my Logan's sister, there is something in their faces that just is sooooo similar, but they are 3rd cousins *if I count correctly*...

Little Miss Kaitlin was just a darling and such a good baby to work with. She did not give any trouble at all!

It was soooo good to see you and come on!!! MOVE TO NJ!!!!! WE MISS YOU!!!!

Just imagine all the trouble that Logan and Madison could get in together! So much fun:)

I have been MIA little bit and will be for few more days.

I have my parents over visiting from Europe for the month and we've been traveling little and been just plain old busy!
We were supposed to take a cross country trip to Grand Canyon, but the plans changed and we are doing more short trips to see more stuff and relax some too!
Yesterday we drove through South Carolina, man, what a beautiful state that is!

The old ages just breathe at you from every side!

We came across this group of gentleman, man that just brought me right back to Civil War times or around that time period and to all the wonderful movies I saw about North and South issues!

I just wanted to say quick "Happy Mother's Day" to all momma's out there!

We had a wonderful time, spending it with my mother & sisters in law.

Lunch was delicious - thank you Lauren and Zusette for wonderful dishes and I dont make bad sausage and peppers either lol...

Taking pictures was frustrating lol, but kudos to my husband who patiently sucked it up and even though I was going crazy, because I felt like there is no way that he'd get a decent picture of me and Logan, he really actually did!

So thank you for putting up with me, and trying for an hour to get a shot of our crazy little man and me:)

I hate being on the other side of a camera, but in all jokes, if Jared ever decided to take Logan away from me, he probably could, because there is just handful of pictures of me and him and gazillion pictures of Logan and daddy lol...

Anyways! It was a great time and it will be even better tomorrow!

My parents are flying in from Europe (well I am hoping, since the volcano in Iceland exploded again yesterday, so some flights have been cancelled, ugh...)

Please keep them in your prayers!

Yesterday on my way from Wegmans I caught a glimpse of this magical place, it was a small field full of buttercups just on the side of a road that I was traveling on.

I instantly started searching in my head for a little girl that I could photograph there.

I could not think of anyone better, then my beautiful niece Olivia and her mom:)

I emailed Lauren as soon as I got home and begged her to drive Olivia over to our house today!

As wonderful as she is, she was all for it, and the pictures we got are just so beautiful and I am just thrilled that they came down.

We had a wonderful lunch together afterwards, and just spent some good quality family time!

Btw, I was supposed to leave for errands hours ago, my parents are coming on monday and I have so much to do, yet here I am, up to my ears in photos yet again...

Our town is just so cute and I cant believe that there is couple locations that are urban/industrial like yet safe to bring little children!

This morning, the sky was beautifully cloudy with some sun peaking through , just the perfect set up for a fun session.

The kiddos were both just gorgeous and their outfits were fabulous!

Mom did such a fantastic job with the clothes!

~Meet Alessia~

a beautiful young lady, that is so sweet and kind, that it makes your heart just melt and makes you want to just photograph her for hours!!!

Literally, I did not care that it was 90F yesterday, we shot for hours!!!

We ventured into the streets of Philadelphia yesterday morning, along with her wonderful mom, who was just sooo much fun to hang out with as well.

The two ladies came prepared!

"Take note girls and boys!"

They had tons of clothes, shoes and accessorizes with them; we had fun styling and putting outfits together, to get the perfect look for our urban photos.

I absolutely love urban session, the images have so much more depth and texture!

By far my favorite type of shoot, senior student in the streets of Philadelphia!

We had the best luck with locations yesterday too!

I can not believe that we were let inside of this fabulous factory where we just went crazy and I promise to put up more pictures soon, but for right now, here is at least a few!

Thanks Alessia for being so fun and amazing to work with and thanks for being our new baby sitter!

OMG I can not believe we finally found a babysitter!

It's hard to trust your baby with someone else then members of your family, but man, I have no doubt that Logan will adore you!

Yesterday I photographed a wonderful wedding in Long Branch NJ.

It was little different from what I'm used to, because this wedding started early!

I was so happy to be up and rolling by 6am, since all the jazz started at 8.30am, because I knew I would be able to still spend saturday night with my family... It was a nice change:)
Erin and Naser were the sweetest! Erin was so relaxed and easy to work with through the entire day!

I must say, that I have been lucky so far, and no bridezilla's for me yet!! knock on the wood lol...

I prefer shooting first thing in the morning or couple hours before sunset, because you get the best light... that is something that I dont have much control over, when it comes to weddings. This one, ceremony started at 12pm at that time the sun is high over your head and it just makes my brain ache trying to figure out how to get the best exposures lol... But it went well! For their portraits we drove to Asbury Park and found an old building, that provided some shade! Pictures are gorgeous, it would be hard for them not to, since the couple is beautiful!

Quick stop at the local beach for few shots there and then it was off to the beautiful Sirena restaurant! OMG, intimate, gorgeous... all the details that Erin planned just made the event sooo much more special! Great job girl!

Ok enough of me going on and on... here are some pictures... it may be an overload, because I just cant narrow them down lol... Enjoy your honeymoon!

So I finally ordered my large canvas of Logan..

I love this shot of him! it's perfect and I went little crazy and got this bad boy at 37x27" large!

It arrived today!

So I just wanted to share picture of the product!

Now I need to get this framed... but to find the right frame will be a challange...

I want something rustic, antique with lots of detail and gold tones... lol... just something really fancy cool and original;)

I stopped by our local framing store today and they did not have anything quite what I was looking for, but man, to frame this will run me anywhere between a lot of money and a lot of bucks... shhhh dont tell my husband...
anyways, just a funny story to go with this...
when fed ex delivered it... jared went to answer the door...

and he says to the guy... omg what did she order now?

and the guys goes... you have no idea how often I hear this lol...

it was a big box... the canvas is 37x27 and the box was even larger .....

I apologize if I'm over-flooding the blog with personal posts, but this one is just hard not to share:)

I am very creative in my opinion, I love the draw and of course photograph stuff...

Well I was always little sad, that Logan never took interest in any sort of drawing or anything... the only thing he'd do with crayons would be - eat them! So I sort of gave up.

Well at his 3 year check up, the nurse suggested doing craft time... so we did.

We set up little table at our sun room and he's got box of markers, play dough, scissors etc there... This morning I learned that while I was gone yesterday, he was chasing the dogs, trying to cut their hair lol... hilarious in my opinion;)

Well, this afternoon after lunch, the house is weirdly quiet... so as a good mother, I know that something must be up... when I think something is up, I usually dont leave my desk without my camera in hand ready to fire....

Was I right or what?!!!! lol...

so I just wanted to say, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! to the person who invented washable markers!

~gym was a bust~

Everyone who knows our Logan also knows, that he never ever stops!

He loves to run around, climb on stuff and just be crazy and all over the place!

When we took him for his 3 year check up, nurse suggested taking him to a tots gym class, that he is very flexible...

So off I go searching on the Internet and find the perfect little gym, where the kids can tumble, roll and jump... just an introduce him to some structured activity, that he would enjoy...

This morning, I packed my camera, Logan and hubby and off we went, to our free trial class:)

Well it was exciting, while it lasted.

When we first got there, Logan was flirting with the teacher, running around with his new friend (who is actually our neighbour - the world is so small) and just being a happy kid!

Even when he was called to the class, he was happy to run around all by himself, but then it just turned 180... He was crying and crying and crying... would not try to do anything!

We had to go in with him and just hold him and let him cry and watch from our lap...

I really thought the place was great, so we are going back next week.

I hope that he'll warm up, this was not like him at all!

So lets sum it up....

the gym was supposed to take some energy away! = Logan ate an entire cheeseburger (he never does) and was asleep by 12.30!!!

So I guess it worked:)

I truly do like a change!

It was exciting when I received an inquiry to go photograph a train station in Hamilton.

I think that this is such a great idea for a wedding gift, especially, if the bride and groom saw each other for the first time right there!

It's weird, I get butterflies in my stomach before every session I do, I thought it would be different this time around... photographing a building and train tracks, not having to chase after super fast 2 year olds...

But no, of course not, I started getting nervous as I was pulling in...

You really never know who may come yelling at you lol.

Luckily, nobody threw me out, even though I fully expected that someone would come and take my camera away.

I mean, last time I got told not to use my camera was back in Philly's subway station.

We were just trying to do engagement pictures then...

People assume you could be a terrorist mapping the area or something lol...

Ok peeps! I'm out, what a beautiful day today! Yay for spring!

Going through a session withdrawals does not pay off well for my husband!

My session for this morning got re-scheduled and I just could not resist and take some pictures. It is like a putting your hand voluntarily into a bee hive, when I come up with the idea to go photograph my very own Logan:)...

bringing up the idea, to my husband is then like that hand which you just put in that bee hive, getting stung 1000x.... well it is not very pleasant lol...

My husband is very well aware of our 3 years old energy levels and is even more aware of the frustration, I'll put us both through, because I wont be able to get the shots I'd like. Yes I admit it! My name is Mirka, I am a professional photographer and

I AM UNABLE TO PHOTOGRAPH MY OWN CHILD!!!

I bet that every photographer parent goes through this though, because you are obviously nothing new to your offspring and the camera you pull out, is just the most annoying thing in the whole wide world, and they will duck and run every time the lens flashes in front of them!

On the top of that, Logan is just non-stop and asking him to sit somewhere still for just one second is an impossible task.

Anyway:) we got up bright and early and headed off to my desired location:)

Here is few from my not very successful photo shoot with my own child and my husband who hopefully forgave me by now, for all the pain I put him through this early Saturday morning:)

As the spring rolls in and I'm starting to get busy with sessions again, I also start neglecting my so beloved nature photography...

I hardly ever find these and I think they are just the cutest, but today I spotted one and could not help, but to take some pictures of her!

Quick relocation to my jasmine plant and run for the camera and here is the little beauty in all her macro glory:)

is sooooo obsessed with them, so I am dedicating this one just to her:)

so I just came from our yard! I could not believe my eyes! our little willow tree is buzzing with lady bugs! I wonder why that is!
They are so fast, so not too many usable pictures from this evening, but man!

I also found ants feasting on some little bugs, maybe ladybug larvas, who knows, they are soooo tiny! You would think it's just some black stuff growing on the tree, but with the macro lens it's amazing, all the sudden you can see legs and spots etc... just incredible...
Anyway here is just couple more macro shots of my finds today!
Oh also! I discovered snails!

I thought they did not live in NJ! they were under a bark of one of our logs, we have ready for fire and they were microscopic lol... but I got some cool shots!
So here they are with the macro and then regular size, crazy HUH?!

Oh yeah, I circled the snails so you could even see them lol...
You'd never find them if I did not, HA!:)
I must say, that our God is amazing! everything he created is just mind-blowing! WOW!!!

Oh thank you Lord for making today wind-less and warm!

It was so much easier to get going this morning because it was actually not cold and it felt like spring again!

I met with Marlena and her cute little boys for our hmmmmm, I think 3rd session to date.

I love photographing her boys, they are just so handsome!

I could not believe when I saw the baby, who is now 6 months old! He looked soooo different then last time I photographed him, at only 12 days old!

Anyways, here is a little sneak a peak for you!

My family is not happy with me, because for the past two days (weekend days mind you) I was ignoring everyone and had my nose in the monitor and was doing nothing but playing with pictures. But it is just so hard to stop, because I just love doing it haha...

I swear, I am NOT a morning person and I hate waking up to cold mornings!

When my alarm went off at 7am I was not a happy camper lol.

I took a nice hot bath, because I knew that I am in for a very cold morning session.

After I left, I wished that the chilly wind went away and the 45F jumped back up to what it was couple days ago - 89F!!!

I felt soooo bad for the little kiddos I was about to photograph!

After we arrived at our location in a nicely manicured park and the family got out of their car,

all I could think of was - OMG! love the outfits, this is soooo the wrong location to use!

So I spoke my mind as I like to do.

"I wish we did a session in Philly, your outfits are perfect for urban session!"

and the dad answers

"I would love that!, I love that stuff"

and in comes his lovely wife

"Why did not you tell me when we booked?!"

so off I go...."there is this abandoned property..."

and the rest is history.

We got back in our cars, loaded the 3 kiddos (who must have think that this is nothing more but a circus) and we drove to this wonderful location of mine, hoping that we dont get kicked out.

It was cold and windy, but the little ones were such troopers!

I had so much fun photographing them.

I love sessions like this and this might have been my favorite family to photograph to date

(along with Stacey and Marlena, of course lol - I love those girls:)).

Anyways, get ready for picture overload because I am just having the hardest time narrowing them down.

What more can a photographer ask for, then a fun, well dressed and beautiful family, who makes my work on saturday a true fun fun fun experience:)

This morning I met with miss *O* and her lovely parents at the Hamilton park for some portraits. It was yet another beautiful day! Sunny, breezy and not too hot!

We got few pictures in out there and then headed over to her house for some more.

Miss Olivia was such a good baby!

She put up with all the dressing and undressing like a big girl!

I usually dont get lucky and most of the new babies I photograph dont sleep while I'm there, but she was just sooooo easy going and good!

She gave us some awake shots and as we got to the end of our session she went out like a light and let me play little!

I thank mommy and daddy, for all their help! Holding the backdrops and all that jazz that goes into photographing a little baby:)

This little fella blue jay obviously liked what he found in our drive way.

He kept coming back for more! I find them so challenging to catch because they are such skittish birds, but I got couple this time...

OCF workshop - with Chris

Yesterday I was invited by Chris to come and participate in his off camera flash workshop in Philadelphia. I hate getting up super early. When my alarm went off I did not want to get out of my bed, but felt bad for agreeing and then not showing up!

It was chilly and the grass was wet, but all the cherry trees were in full bloom and so stunning when I arrived to the location.

It was definitely very neat to watch Chris work. I even got to try couple shots myself:) This type of lighting is very intimidating to me, but the results are fabulous! Such cool effect!!!

WORKSHOP FUN!!!!

this past weekend I went to Tampa FL for a workshop that I have been thinking of doing for couple years now... I was finally done trying to figure out how this magic is done and just went ha!

I drove there excited to learn new things and take my photography and my photography business to a next level... It will be a process but am excited to start offering even higher quality images and products to my clients then I did before.

The first day of WS was a photographing day... go figure it was pouring rain pretty much the whole time, so we could only work at remote location.... it was challenging but what an experience!

Anyway, the WS was over last night and I just missed my family so much, that I got in my car and drove....

At 1 am it still seemed like a great idea to just go and skip the hotel.... not so much at 4.55 when the rain came gushing from the skies and my wipers well they sucked....

I made it home in 18 hours exhausted, but so excited to be back with everyone:)

Here is just couple images that I got to work on with the new technique... I will keep posting more and hopefully will be getting better at it! It is something that I love and feel it is very much my taste and style if you may...

Off to whole foods, our refrigerator is robbed... go figure, leave two man home alone and they will eat the counter top if they have to:)

OMG!!! Let me just start with.... I AM EXHAUSTED!!!!
I decided (on my stupid own) that I will drive to Tampa FL! I choose to drive for I dont know how many hours, instead of taking an easy nice 2 hour flight from Philly....

Well, I made it.... I am in Tampa for a workshop that I have been dieing to take! But let me start from the beginning...

decide to drive to FL = BAD IDEA

(trafic on I 95 in Virginia is the worst and put me about 3 hours behind my schedule
2.

put photographer in a car and let her drive to FL = BAD IDEA!!!

( especially if she takes her camera bag out of the trunk, and pulls along the side of a highway every half hour and then takes several

U TURNS just so she can go back and take a picture of something the corner of her eye caught....) BAD IDEA.... VERY BAD (this set me back another at least 2 hours lol)

"F myhubbys I"

we are retiring 50% in czech republic and 50% in Florida (it is sooooo gorgeous down here... all the moss on the trees is just like from a fairy tale!!!)
So I had sooo many funny stories and jokes to type in here, but man, I am exhausted. I did not put any effort in editing those pictures, but I have to share at least some.....

I got all the way to NC yesterday, got in my hotel at almost midnight, and was only 400 miles into the trip.... I had to get up at 6.30 and had entire 660 miles ahead of me....
My silly little chicken brain was more emotional about missing my son then anything, that I called the house at 7am so we could skype.... well Logan was soooo upset:(.... 45 minutes later he finally calmed down (as jared told me) and was perfect for our evening skype session:)

We've had the most beautiful week and weekend, weather in 70's and plenty of sunshine! The ice cream truck came down the street for the first time, and this year Logan definitely recognized the music and was ready to buy some ice-cream...

We've done little landscaping on our front yard and just enjoyed the sun....

On the other note, I hate tax season, I wont get into it, but it just sucks lol...

It's raining here today, so no more playing outside for us... can't wait for the nice weather to roll back in though!:)

OMG!!! me and Wendy finally got together for our no kids, girls half day out!!! We must have been postponing this for months... every time we planned to get together yet another snow storm would hit.... so today we did it!!! Friday off from work and off from kids, 73F and singing birds, lunch and delicious cocktail at Eat at Joe's Crab Shack.... GOTTA LOVE IT:)!!!
It was a nice change to photograph a human being not just flowers...

Yesterday we had a birthday party for my wonderful Logan, he is turning 3 years old! I dont know where the time goes but it goes by way to fast if you ask me! When I look back at some movies from when he was smaller it seems like sooooo long ago, even though it really is not... We are trully blessed to have him in our lives, he is a crazy man that is for sure, but he's the most sensitive little boy and I love him sooooo:)
So get ready for a picture overload, because I am a proud momma of this little ham;)

Our theme was STAR WARS this year, first time we did a theme. He loves those movies and can hum the theme melody like nobody else, the kid sings in key too which is wonderful, but not surprising since both Jared and I are very very very good singers... well me more then Jared... I traveled the world with a siging choir:) lol..

So here it is as it went down!!!

oh yeah! PINATA BABY!!!

and then there was the cake... and I would or even will post a video once I figure out how to get it from my camcorder onto my computer and transfer it into digital files... but the story goes... my husband is a mean mean daddy... smashing your own son's face in the delicious icingy cake is the worst thing that can possibly happen to a 3 year old sugar addict lol...

but it's all good, make up kiss and we are ready to continue the party fun!

mommy was very happy when I was gifted this diego camera, I can follow in her foot steps now!

Every morning on Logan's birthday I go and take a picture of him waking up... I saw that someone was doing it and thought it was the cutest idea...

I made some special dinosaur pancakes for him this morning, he is soooo into dino's, but he choose to eat some delicious leftover cake instead;)

For birthday lunch we took our little munchking to TGI Fridays... he loves their french onion soup! I must tell you all, that that was all I could eat when I was pregnant with him, that soup and orange soda... We'd go there on daily basis for good few months... so it just makes sense that he loves it lol... funny....

and a birthday gift from us:) watch out everyone! Logan is coming in 2.5 mph speed and he has no idea how to steer lol...

And guess what, we are getting yet another snow storm...

So it is almost 1 year since this little princess came to this world! She is the cutest thing ever and we love her with all our hearts!
Today we got to celebrate her 1st birthday with everyone who loves her (and there are many)!
Olivia is Logan's cousin, he call's her Livava (it's still hard for him to pronounce her name) and he loves her lots, any bold little baby that he sees is her or at least in his head it is. Here is just a few pictures to share with my sister in law and her family! It was a great party Lauren and Kev, you guys have the most precious little girl and are truly blessed!

Well this time we are going out to my favorite restaurant BONEFISH GRILL and will be enjoying ourselfs while my mother in law watches Logan for us:) YAY:)

I cant imagine anything better while snowed in!

Yesterday I might have photographed one of the most memorable wedding days in my career.

NJ might as well declare state of emergency, because the snow storm that hit us on friday night and continued well into saturday afternoon brought 28.5" of snowy goodness!!!

I was so excited but soooo nervous as it got closer to me leaving for the venue. What would usually take 20 minutes took me an hour. I drove no more then 20 mph with visibility under quarter of a mile, snow falling heavily and lanes on the road... what lanes?!!!

By the time my bride was all ready to head to the venue location, their limo driver already cancelled (that's how bad the snow was) so everyone loaded in cars and took off...

We got to take couple pictures in the freezing weather, but I must say, they might be one of my favorite wedding pictures yet. So beautiful and so worth the frozen toes that we all got Im sure:)

Sandra and John, you guys were awesome and so easy to work with!

I wish you all the happiness in the world and you know where to find me when your little girl is getting married one day:)!

WOW!!! I did not expect this... we are getting sooooo much snow and it is coming fast and hard, but it is so beautiful!

The fun part about this storm is, that I have to leave in few hours and photograph a wedding.

I am hoping that my bride will be willing to come out at least for few minutes and take some portraits in this beautiful winter wonderland! I mean there is not many people, who can look back at their wedding day and say "remember when...."

Here is just couple that I took this morning... The snow started last night at 6pm and we have already over foot and half on the ground!

New Year ... New Beginnings and New Life....

Today I went to photograph this little man and his sister.

As I walked in mom was excitingly announcing that he was wide awake the whole morning, so he should be sleepy:).

I knew better and told her how every newborn session goes for me, the babies just do not sleep and party the whole time...

Well this little beautiful boy was no exception, except that he was soooo good and sooooo stinking cute:)

I am just stopping by my blog to say that I hope everyone had a wonderful time with Christmas and New Year's celebrations. I have enjoyed off time celebrating with my husbands family and kicking back with the wonderful Twilight Saga books that got me totally addicted and I read the series in 8 days! I dont read that much but those books are so wonderful. I saw the first 2 movies several times and I am just in love with the whole story... Stephanie Myers did fantastic job writing them!

I feel like 13 year old girl with huge crush and my husband is getting tired of me because it's all I talk about:)

Yesterday we had a birthday party in Flemington, to get home took us 2 hours, we weren't able to go much faster then 35-40mph on I-95...it was crazy! When we got home, Bruno did not hesitate a minute and pushed his way through the snow that was deeper then him to greet me! That is what I call LOYALTY:) Big things sure come in small packages:)

This morning we stuffed Logan into his snow suit and headed for a walk around the neighbourhood, it is quite beautiful out there, the snow is knee deep in our front yard!!! I am so hoping this will stay around till Christmas eve so we can have white Christmas. Here is couple for you folks to check out and get jealous if you dont have any:) We are sure loving it and enjoying it!!! I think this was the biggest snow storm since hmmmm 2004, when we still lived in Hamilton - then they even called the state of an emergency! I am truly excited that it was my birthday present:) I was hoping for at least one good one this year:)

Today I got the best birthday gift ever, well it was a close call next to the seltzer cartridges that my husband got for me for my vintage seltzer water bottle that I love and reminds me of my grandfather and my childhood so much! Today I also got a wonderful WINTER STORM!!! I was so excited when I opened my eyes this morning and had to rush the entire family outside!... We tried couple pictures with Logan in it, but that did not happen, because by the time we were ready to take them, the kid ate and touched too much snow and froze his hands off lol... So here is a quick shot (by my hubby) of myself and Bruno (who was also rattling his teeth, because I could not find his coat - BAD MOMMY!!! BAAAD!!!) in our winter wonderland! We are expecting close to 2 feet of snow!!! I am so excited!!!! (please excuse my face, but it was like 7am and straight out of bed person, who would much rather be still sleeping lol)

My mom loves birds, when we were in my mil's house this past weekend, her front yard was just swarming with wild birds... So as shy as they are, I managed to snap couple of blue jay and what I think is a cardinal female... she was really checking me out lol:) It is incredible how well those little birdies can take care of themselves in a winter months. (the blue jay has a seed in his beak).

and as much as this has nothing to do with the birds, I just have to post this one of Logan - caught in the act one:)I may not be the right person to say, since I am his mom, but he is the cutest, when he's miscivious

Seriously, it was freeeeeezing cold this morning when we headed out to the open field and had no shelter from the wind... it was a beautiful day though and it felt pretty good as long as we stayed in the sun... I had this field mapped out for some time now... so we pulled our cars over on the side of the road and went for it... sure enough, not too long after us a cop pules in as well... no worries... my father in law is the judge and we are in his town so we are golden:)... bye bye officer, it was nice to meet you!, he was cool and very cute though:)...
Tiff and Kurt were fun! I was excited about their session, because Kurt is a musician - guitarist in a band so I knew I was going to be able to let my artistic spirit of the leash little more:)

Anyways, here is what might be a last sneak a peak of the year, it is too cold to be outside for a session and I am soooo looking forward spending more quality time with Logan, I have been neglecting him for too long now! I am exhausted, it was a loooong day, driving even further North then White Plains, to meet with this wonderful sweet family!

I am flattered that they asked me to take their family portraits.

Why in a 1000 years would I suggest an 8am photo session on sunday all the way in New Brunswick, which for me meant getting up at 6.30am and heading out of the house at 7am...?!!! because the light is gorgeous in that hour and as much as I'd like to stay in the warm bed I just need to do, what needs to be done to deliver the best images to my clients. :)

This morning I met with Jennifer and her two lovely men for a session in the 1st snow of the season! Man, was it chilling 30F, but we got some good stuff. BTW, you nailed the outfits! Loved the layers and colors, well done:) Here is a sneak a peak for you guys, it was so nice to meet you! And I did not say it then, but when you pulled in I could have swear I knew you, you very much resemble my sister in law's girlfriend... maybe you're sisters, you could have been lol...

Christmas is a magical time!!!!

December 5th is a st. Nicholas day celebration in Prague. Kids put their stockings behind their window and hope for goodies in them by the morning! St. Nicholas then walks around the city accompanied by the devil and angel and fills those stockings with either sweets or coal based on how good or bad the child was. I just filled Logan's stocking for the first time and could not believe when I saw him just sitting in his room reading a book... had to grab the camera and I will forever treasure this photograph! I think it's just magical.

Last year my friend Jill asked to do some family portraits for her holiday cards, well it never happened for who knows what reasons lol... Well today about a year later we finally managed to get together and get some photos in. Her boys are just awesome and fun!!! W has the most beautiful eyes with the longest thickest eyelashes and R is just such a goofball, gotta love them.

Jill and I met while working at an eye doctors office, both got pregnant at the same time and have boys exactly 1 month apart to the date... It was fun when we got to the point that we could barely move, to not have to do much around the office and just wheel ourselves around and boss other people to do stuff for us;)...

Anyways, today was an amazing 60F for our session, I mean, come on... it is December and we are in NJ.... but we did not complain... it was so nice to not have to shiver in the cold!

Gosh is this long or what... so to the point... Here is a sneak a peak Jill!!!!

As fragile as new babies are, they sure make me work for my $$$ lol... I think they know when I come and they decide to party most of my time there lol... I bet the parents love it when I leave, because I am sure that as soon as the door closes behind me the kiddos go to lala land within seconds lol...

This little guy was so beautiful, such great skin (no peeling at all, as you can usually see in newborns) and man oh man was he alert and strong!

After my session this morning, we did not hesitate one bit, loaded our Logan in the car and went on a Christmas tree hunt:) I tried to get some decent photos of him picking up a tree, but he was too excited and running all over the place, so here is the few that I got:) I am so excited for Christmas and hoping for at least one super awesome winter snow storm, when we get snowed in, drink muled wine and hot chocolate:) YUM!

I really hope that everyone had wonderful Thanksgiving with their family! We had the best time! The only person who probably enjoyed those two days even more was our Logan... we came to this fully expecting that this is what will happen... and it sure did... sugar, sugar, sugar and more sugar.... the kid was in heaven:) not a piece of turkey or anything solid, but that:)...

I am posting couple photos, to share with my parents, who are back in europe and I miss them dearly, especially this time of year...

You know what is also awesome? That it is only friday today! Wahoo... we still have the whole weekend ahead of us!!!

I call this one a genetically incorrect tree - as we were leaving yesterday it was in full bloom! and I mind you we are in NJ and it is the end of November... this tree does this kinda stuff few times a year, it seems like any time the sun comes out, it just decides to bloom:)

Gray, cloudy and drizzling... LOVE IT!!!! well loose the drizzle and I love it lol... I can not tell you how much I love to do a session in those conditions... the light is so soft and amazing!

I met with this little girl this morning, poor thing had to give couple hours of her no school day and pose for me:).... She did a wonderful job I must say, so much fun!... throw the hip this way, throw your head that way... she did it all :) thanks Hannah:)

Logan was the whiniest little boy last night... omg!!! lol... I gave in and decided to bring out the ginger bread house that I bought for us to decorate before christmas... Did he have fun working on it or what?! I never though of him as a craft boy, but wow, he iced, put candy up and of course put candy and icing in his mouth as well... We did not wait for the icing to dry after assembling the house, so I was worried it would be all fallen apart in the morning, but sure enough it is still standing:) It has a huge crack on the top of the roof, but who cares, we love it! It's our first ginger bread house ever... I love that I was able to share my 1st time with Logan's:) so special:)

... Holiday madness is slowly getting to it's end here... I must have photographed everyone in the Burlington County and few from even further away, but it is great and I truly appreciate all my wonderful customers coming for their family portraits to me! I had a blast!

Eventough I have been so busy, last night I actually managed to get a family portrait taken of my own, but will not be posting it just yet. I just wanted to share the exciting news with all of you lol...

This morning I met with Monica, her husband and two wonderful girls for what could have been my last trip to this location this year - I used it quite a lot in the last couple weeks. It was a chilly morning and nothing felt better then standing in the sun:) The girls were awesome and super cute I think you guys are in for some trouble, better buy a shot gun, because the boy's will be piling up at your doors soon:) It was very nice to finally meet you!

I must say, it is nice to be able to sleep in on saturday at least little longer then what I have been lately... I did have session, but it was at 9am!!! and not too far either, so I got to drink my cup of coffee and hang out with Logan for couple seconds, before I packed my bag and headed out!

I met with Amanda and her beautiful family again. I photographed their little girl when she was first born few months ago, but man oh man did she grow!!! She can now sit and crawl and is just so darn cute! Those two were tough crowd to catch, but man oh man were they the cutest!!!!

We had to bribe and promise to talk to Santa's special elf, but in the end that paid off and we ended up with the cutest shots of those two little people:) I absolutely love her portrait, I am so happy we got her to stand still in that spot for just a second, the wind was blowing just a little and her blode hair floating in it just makes this shot perfect! And how about this one of the two of them together, they love each other!!!

I was wondering what was up that I was able to work uninterrupted for the longest time this morning... When I went to check on my Logan, who likes to play in our little pantry cabinet, I found this.... my very dearly treasured, hand picked and dried porciny mushrooms, that my aunt back in europe collected and prepared.... the were all over the floor lol... I mean these things can go for $60 a pound and there I am picking one by one, making sure they are usable still...

WAWA coffee rules!!!

I am soooo exhausted from this weekend and really wished I kept the afternoon open for napping today. I headed out to meet with this fun family for some senior student and family portraits this afternoon and as much as I wished I could have take a nap, they were so amazing and made our session a breeze:) Thanks guys and thank God this was not a toddler session, I would soooo be dead right now lol...

Will was not so excited about mom making him go through this, but I strongly believe, that once he was in front of the camera, he actually enjoyed himself!

I love it when it's solid cloudy sky outside! You dont have to worry about soooooo much stuff! The lighting is soft and perfect anywhere you go and you dont have to stress out about the harsh sun shadows! LOVE IT!

This morning I met with this super sweet family to take their holiday card photo and to photograph their beautiful daughters! What a nice change from chasing after 1 and 2 year old kids. These girls were easy:)

Today was the big day, 10 mini-sessions lined up and of course I had to come down with sore throat and fever. I can not believe I actually pulled through this! ... today was a yet another gorgeous day for yet another session!... this week has been so busy, I haven't stop since ummm a looong time ago, but it is what I love to do and I am blessed to be able to do it! there is nothing better then your job being your passion!:)

mommy was beautiful and daddy handsome and if you add those two, you get 2 gorgeous children with the biggest brown eyes, that I have seen in a long time!

The session was rather fast, there is only so much you can get in, before toddlers get over you and wont have it lol...

Believe me, I KNOW! I have 2 and half year old at home myself and he ducks every time I pull my camera out, so this session was another piece of a cake for me, I got practice lol...

This little beauty was born less then 2 weeks ago! She was such a good girl for our session!

I have to tell you about her beautiful room! I love old houses and this one is 100 years old! WOW it was just so charming with such amazing detail! When I walked in her room I wished I was the one growing up in it. It was beautiful!!! Mommy did terrific job with it! She is lucky to be growing up in there surrounded with such loving family!

lol... yes, I am tired... the only title that comes to mind for my sessions today is "1-2-3..."
I met with 3 wonderful families for some good old family portraits today:)

I had so much fun with all the kiddos who were just so cute and amazing!

I must tell you though Sara... your little man, when I first saw him, not only looks like you! First thing I actually thought was... omg!!! he looks just like my cousin back in Prague, when little! I was showing his picture to my husband and he said... omg, he looks just like you when you were little... lol.. and I can tell you exactly what my mom will say when she'll see his picture tomorrow lol...

I'm gonna have to dig out some old family photos to show you!... are your ancestors by any chance from Czech republic? How crazy would it be if we were related? lol... well I'm getting carried away here... Here is a quick sneak a peak folks! It was a pleasure working with you!

...why does it always rain on the weekends?... I have no idea, must be a rule or something...

this session was actually cancelled this morning, but then we decided to try and go for it and we lacked out! we had the softest light and beautiful colors...

it was chilly and rained for couple minutes, but we pulled it off yet again:)

I had my clients sit on plastic bag and blankets, but it worked in the end:)

Here is just couple of your lovely cutie pie!!!

She was an amazing little model, did not complain one bit!!!

I love 6-8 month olds, they are just adorable and they dont go anywhere lol:)

Just had to share one of Logan - this is his 1st time trick or treating:) He was a little candy corn...

We figured this will be the last time we get to embarrass him before he is old enough next year to decide on his own costume!

I Hope that all parents survived the sugar rush and that your kids weren't bouncing off the walls like my little Logan was lol... I'm so thankful for bedtime:)

First let me tell you how hard is to be on the other side of my camera... I can not believe that this shot actually came out the way it did, must be beginners luck:)

...this was loooong time coming!... We had our family portraits schedulled for months, but last weekend when it was supposed to happen, it rained... It rained today as well, but we got a patch of some dry enough weather that we got to do what we needed to:)...

This family portrait is actually a christmas gift for my mother in law!

So here it is, but shhhhh dont tell her;)

my little assistant - Logan - yes he will be a photographer too one day:)

could not have done it without his help:)

and this is us - my husbands side of family...

isn't she lovely, isn't she woooonderful:)

this is about as good as it gets when you want Logan in pictures:)
